Air Rifle Field Target is a challenging competition that adds some real life hunting skills to competitive shooting.  The match takes place in the woods and requires moving from target to target.  The targets are a knock down steel, with a small kill zone.  The kill zones vary from 1-1/2" to 3/8".  Distances vary from 10 yards to 55 yards.  Any pellet gun is acceptable for this match, however there is a limit to 20 ft-lbs energy at the muzzle.  Most shooters use .177 calibler, but .20 and .22 will also work well.  The trajectory, wind, and range determination make this a very challenging shoot.

The typical match is either 40, 50, or 60 shots.

Rules are governed by the American Airgun Field Target Association.

At this time Riley conservation Club is not affiliated with this organization.

Match times will vary as weather, daylight, participation and other factors dictate.  Prior to the match a site in range will be open for competitors to make last minute scope checks and such.

Cost will be $10 per competitor, Junior shooters under 18 will be $5 with paying adult.
