Members,                                                                                                        March 2009

At the March 12 meeting the winner of the members' gun giveaway was selected by a blind draw.  The winner of the Remington 700 rifle was Bill Wheelock.  Congratulations, Bill!

Enclosed are the tickets assigned to each member for the public giveaway.  Each member is to sell their assigned tickets for $1.00 each (6 tickets for $5.00) or purchase the tickets themselves at that price.  There will be two guns awarded in this giveaway.  Both guns will be Ruger 10/22 rifles.  One gun will be drawn from tickets sold to members or the public at large. The second gun will go to an RCC member.  Each member will get one ticket for the second gun giveaway for every 10 tickets they sell (or buy themselves) for the first gun in the public giveaway.  Proceeds and sold tickets (with the name and phone number of the purchaser filled in on the back) should be returned to Rich Hawkins, RCC Secretary - Treasurer, at the address on the top of this newsletter.

Riley Conservation Club will be holding a members workday on Saturday, April 11, 2009.  We will be completing several projects.  Among these projects will be rebuilding the 25 yard berm, clearing brush, painting (weather permitting) and general cleanup and maintenance of the property.  Please plan to join us on April 11 to maintain and improve the condition of our club facilities.  We will begin at 9:00am.

At the April 9, 2009 monthly member's meeting we will be considering two changes to our club bylaws.  Changes to the bylaws require prior notice to the membership (that's what this is) and a two-thirds vote of those present at the meeting.  The two changes are as follows:

·         Update the membership section to reflect current dues ($70.00 annually) and the current age for the senior discount (60 years of age).

·         Add a discount similar to the senior discount for students.

·         Add the following: "The rules contained in the current edition of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised shall govern the organization in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with these bylaws, the constitution and any special rules of order the organization may adopt."

On Saturday, June 6, in honor of the anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy, the Riley Conservation Club (in conjunction with Wabash Valley Practical Pistol Shooters) will be hosting a World War II shoot.  RCC members and the general public are invited to join us in shooting World War II model firearms.  RCC members are encouraged to participate and assist in organizing this patriotic event.
