Members,

Enclosed in this newsletter is a renewal application for your 2009 membership.  Included with the renewal application is a short survey.  We would appreciate it if you would complete the survey along with your renewal application.  The information in the survey will assist the club leadership in determining the best direction for the club in 2009.

Our club will be conducting two gun giveaways in the coming months.  The first giveaway will be available to the general public.  The firearm to be given away will be something along the lines of a Savage 17 HMR or a Ruger 10/22.  We are currently working with local gun dealers in an effort to get the best deal we can on the best firearm we can.

Each club member will receive 12 tickets for the public giveaway.  Tickets will sell for $1.00 each or six for $5.00.  Members may sell the tickets or purchase the tickets themselves.  Member may request additional tickets to sell or to purchase.

A second gun will be given away as a part of the public giveaway.  The second gun will be the same make and model as the first and will go to an RCC member.  Each member will get one ticket for the second gun for every 10 tickets they sell (or buy themselves) for the first gun in the public giveaway.

The second gun giveaway will feature a high-end rifle such as a Remington 700 or a Remington 1100.  This giveaway will be for members only.  Each member will be allotted one ticket for $30.00 to be paid along with and in addition to the member's renewal fee.  Obviously, the total number of tickets to be drawn from will be significantly less than for the public giveaway, thereby increasing the chance of winning.

Both of these giveaways are designed to increase the funds available in the club coffers in order to continue to improve our club and our club facilities.

As with most organizations like ours, 20% of our members are doing 80% of the chores necessary to keep the club operating.  The club needs the help of its membership in running events at the club and in maintaining the club and the club facilities.

In addition to the silhouette and muzzleloader matches the club has conducted in the past, we have added Steel Challenge matches in 2008.  These competitions have been well attended, a lot of fun to shoot, and have generated additional funds for club operations.  In order to continue to offer these competitions and events, the club will need for its membership to step up and participate in these matches, both as competitors and match organizers.

Our club also needs our members' assistance in maintaining the clubhouse and property.  We had a very successful work day last spring and look forward to making more progress this fall and in the spring of 2009.  Specifically, the clubhouse needs to be painted and the grounds are in need of regular maintenance, particular brush clearing.
